This december I got paid on the 18th and i have left no money in there for my direct debit to come out when they took it out on 29th decemeber. I was recently shopping around for car insurance. One to see if I could save a couple dollars on my current plan of $150 a month, as well as to get an idea of what I'd be expecting to pay upon getting a better car for commuting. While I was shopping around I quickly started finding out that California has milage based insurance. I commute on average 130 miles a day to and from work not including my personal driving on the weekend or when I go out shopping or whatever else. With that I found that these insurance companies want me to pay them the equivalent of a small mortgage payment to insure my vehicle. So I wouldn't be saving any money in fact I'd be paying close to 1100 dollars more per month than what I do now. All cause I need to live further out from where I work in order to afford a nice place for myself and family. So what are my options? Can I request non milage based quotes and plans or is this some mandate now? Would I have to uproot my entire family just so I can save money on car insurance. While at the same time spending way more on rent? Example I rent a 4 bedroom house for about $2000 a month currently. To get the same thing much closer to my job would be about $5000 a month. A question about car insurance and modifying?

Okay, lets say you own a car, lets call this car A. You pay a car insurance company to insure you car. You hand over the required information and all that, and the car is stock when you insured it. Lets say you put a turbo, or intercooler, or new rims, or anything really, but you DONT mention it to the insurance company. Then you get into a car crash. What does the insurance company insure? The whole car with the non-insured parts? The whole car with only the stock parts (which was exactly what you payed for every month)? Or they insure nothing?

Ok guys, learning to drive hopefully pass my test within a couple of months, what I'm wondering is, I'll go onto my fathers insurance for a couple of years as 2nd driver, no I will not be the main driver before any of you come on to say that's illegal it's called fronting I know I know. He uses it 5 days a week for work anyway ill probably only be using it during the weekends, I'm only really going on his so I can get a couple of years on my license and when it comes to it my insurance won't be a fortune, I'm 25 just now, worked out if I want to have my own insurance it with a small 1L engine it would cost me 1547 a year, not gonna happen, so I'm going to go onto my fathers insurance as 2nd driver to his car. A 1.8L vauxhall vectra. Ok now to the question lol, my fathers insurance just now is 26 a month, with me going on to his insurance it will work out at 18 each a month, is this normal? Insurance to go down when you add a 2nd named driver who would only have passed his test?? This is fully comprehensive cover. But if I wanted to driver my own car a small 1L engine it would be roughly 129 a month. Seems like it doesn't add up. Go figure lol Got the quotes from go compare and confused.com. Just seems like it doesn't add up, have insurance for 26 a month with 1 driver or have it for 18 each with 2 drivers, one who has little experience and has only just passed his test driving a 1.8L engine

I am looking to lower my auto insurance. The state approved defensive driving agencies I have researched offer two possibilities. Option 1. Lower auto premium DD course and Option 2. Points reduction DD course. Option 1 seem to be at the discretion at the auto insurance company but does option 2 also have an affect on insurance? Does point reduction remove traffic violations from your record and therefore results in lower insurance premium due to less violations?

I was quoted 1200 the beginning of this month for car insurance (its due feb, but I regularly look at quotes). I then looked the 23rd and was quoted over 2000 for identical insurance (just by refreshing the quote). It has then increased drastically every day by around 1000 so its now looking at over 5000 a year to insure a 2007 FORD KA!!! I'm 17 and have 6 months no claims, plus the time I had no claims as a learner too (another 4 months). I understand that the equal insurance for men & women effects this and due to my age insurance is high, but two of my male friends insurance is shooting up too.
